Hello

I'm Missy Roberts, a fine artist specializing in custom, hand-painted pet portraits.

I'm a lifelong animal lover, and it's my passion and joy to create life-like paintings that capture the energy, expression, personality and unique character traits of my clients’ furry loved ones.

Because each pet is special and one of a kind, I work closely with the pet owner to get to know all that I can about each and every pet that I paint. Nobody knows your pet better than you do, and I invite you to tell me all there is to know about him/her. Your input will directly influence the quality of the finished portrait.

In addition to the information you share with me about your pet, it is really important to obtain a good photo for reference. I understand this can be difficult, since animals don't always pose upon request! For some ideas, see “Tips for photographing your pet” below. If you already have a favorite photo (or photos) that you'd like for me to use, that will eliminate a few steps and some frustration too. It is especially important for me to have a shot that clearly shows eye color and facial expression, as well as true color of coat and lay of fur. I need a great reference photo to achieve a great portrait!

Although I will reference your photos in my work, it's not simply about duplicating a photo. I really want to make your pet come to life on the canvas, a lasting treasured gift for years to come.

For those who have experienced the loss of a pet, a portrait can serve as a lasting tribute and meaningful memorial. I consider it an honor and a privilege to paint the portrait of a beloved pet who is no longer with us.

My company is not a group of artists, it's just me, in my little studio overlooking beautiful Lake Erie in Cleveland, Ohio. My art is never digitally reproduced or computer generated. Each portrait I paint features close-up, detailed work, done in vibrant acrylics on stretched canvas. It takes approximately two weeks to complete each original piece.

I would love it if you would consider my creating a custom hand-painted pet portrait for you or someone you love.
